Boffins required for the final round of Euro 2008 group games.

Flipping heck. How complicated are the final standings in the Euro groups getting?
The BBC website has a ‘quick’ summary of how Group C (Holland, Romania, Italy and France) might pan out. And it’s 342 words long. Amazing.
I hope that Motty’s commentating, ’cause he’ll be as happy as a pig in the proverbial with the convoluted permutations of the group.
So far the highlight of the tournament has been the brilliant counter attacking football of the Dutch. I’m delighted as I’m a big fan of Marco Van Basten (as I’ve mentioned here before).
They beat the Italians 3-0. Here’s Van Bronckhorst looking delighted after knocking in the third.

If you’re in the UK, you can watch the highlights here.

Then they followed that up with a 4-1 demolition of France. And they all joined in partying after the fourth went in. Which hasn’t always been the case with Dutch squads in the past.
Look a them.

And, again if you’re in the UK, you can watch all the goals in glorious technicolour here.

Again there were some lovely goals on the counter. And the finish from Wesley Sneijder for the fourth was just a peach. So enjoy the Oranje fans as they enjoy their team picking the opposition to pieces. When they play this well it’s difficult to see anyone else matching them.
But can they keep it up? That’s the questions.
